Whenever a person finds themselves charged with a white collar crime, the consequences that often accompany a conviction should be considered. In addition to penalties such as prison time or having to repay stolen money, those who find themselves with a criminal conviction can also suffer damage to their reputation and make it difficult to find work in the future.
Four men are currently being held in Michigan after Michigan State Police arrested them for using fraudulent credit cards. The four men had already been on the road when law enforcement pulled them over. Investigators believe that they are part of a credit card fraud ring.
The four men have already been charged with racketeering and are scheduled to go to trial in early June. However, there is apparently some new evidence that could be significant in the case. Now it is unclear whether the four men will go to trial for the felony charges. Only until a review of the new evidence is complete will they know the next step in their criminal case.
The investigation into the credit card fraud ring is ongoing as well. Thus far, State Police are certain that the men tried using the cards in several different states. Police believe that there are other individuals involved but have yet to make any formal statements regarding the investigation.
Like in this situation, facing any type of criminal charge can result in severe penalties. Individuals being charged with a crime should take the charge very seriously. Often it can be beneficial to speak with someone who understands how the court systems work and what options are available.
